Road to Grace

The road that leads to Grace starts with seeing our guilt. Romans 3:23-24 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Step one is acknowledging that "I am guilty," "I chose a lie," and "I made poor choices." Next, I must acknowledge that my sinful nature is what led me to make the choice that I made. Romans 8:5-8 says, "For they that are after the flesh does mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." Step three is understanding that grace is a gift! I must realize that there is nothing that I could ever do to erase my faults but accept that Jesus has already paid the cost to free me from my sin. Jesus is the answer to the sin problem that we face. As we hear the Word of the Lord, we are changed from the inside out, a little at a time. Romans 12:2 declares, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

This is the day that the Lord has made and we have chosen to rejoice! Rejoice that we have the opportunity to be exposed to the truth. Rejoice that we have been gifted another chance despite what we've done. Rejoice that we have the opportunity to receive forgiveness and be put back in our rightful place with truth. In John 15:3, Jesus told Peter, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." Every time the Word of God hits our ears, we are being cleansed of our ways that lead to destruction. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death." Grace opens the door for us to escape the path of destruction that our choices have led us down. Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice, because through grace we have the opportunity to be free!
